"The Magic Order" from Netflix
This is not a coincidence.
Welcome to The Magic Order.
Netflix is "branching out" of their television broadcasting lane, and into "publication", with the upcoming debut release of their comicbook "The Magic Order"! And of course there'll be a video trailer!
Published by Image Comics, "The Magic Order" is scheduled for a book-shelf premiere on June 13th.
WHAT-IS: "We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster, and The Magic Order is the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the mob in THE MAGIC ORDER, as five families of magicians—sworn to protect our world for generations—must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day, they live among us as our neighbors, friends, and co-workers, but by night, they are the sorcerers, magicians, and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first. MARK MILLAR's first NETFLIX comic book, drawn by the incredible OLIVIER COIPEL (Amazing Spider-Man, Thor)." (imagecomics.com / "Covers" images via)
This particular slice of news is nigh interesting, not just because this'll be Netflix's "first comicbook release", but perhaps it might be a segway into their upcoming "original properties"? Leading to an (eventual) live action "Magic Order" tv series, perhaps?
Remembering Neil Gaiman's "Books of Magic" (1990-91), to the enchanted success of "Harry Potter" movies and it's ilk (I've not watched "The Magicians" tv series tho...), there's always time for some "magic" in our lives, IMHO ... and from the looks of it, this is certainly NOT a comicbook story for "kids".
"Pop Culture Media" is so intimately intertwined these days, it would make perfect sense, and add some "excitement" to the already saturated culture, and I am all for it! ENTERTAIN ME :)
