NBC’s POWERLESS Premieres February 2nd
”So how difficult is it cleaning up after super heroes? Why do super-villains make such good politicians? … Follow the staff of an insurance company, specialising in products to protect defenseless bystanders, from the collateral damage of Superheroes and Supervillians.” (IMDb)
“Powerless” is an upcoming American action comedy series developed by Ben Queen for NBC, and the first sitcom series set within the world of the DC Universe. The series follows the adventures of “Emily Locke” (perkily played by Vanessa Hudgens) as Director of Research & Development at Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises, ”that specializes on products for ordinary humans who are poised to be victims of the battles between superheroes and supervillians.” (Wiki). The rest of the cast includes Danny Pudi as “Teddy” and Alan Tudyk as “Del Heller” (The new boss in the building), soy know this’ll be riot - I hope!
The character “Crimson Fox” (from “Justice League Europe” in the comicbooks) will appear in the first episode (seen in the trailer above). Would we be expecting MORE of DC’s superheroes appearing in the show? Well, the NBC network is not necessarily known for their connection to “licensed comicbook franchises”, but then there’s that “little” series known as “Heroes”! And of course “Heroes Reborn” that came the latest… yep.
“Powerless” premieres Thursday, February 2 at 8:30/7:30c on NBC.
The premise parallels a comicbook series I used to enjoy; “Damage Control” - The Dwayne McDuffie-created scenario where a company takes cares of the aftermath of superhero/super-villains battles, and how they affect the average joes.
I personally enjoyed it, before they got directly intertwined with the superheroes themselves … imagine a “Agent of “S.H.I.E.L.D.” without see the Avengers at all hahaha
